Underfloor heating is not a new concept in
this country; it has been widely used for the last 30 years. In the last 5
years underfloor heating has become more efficient, more reliable and
provides extremely comfortable living environment. Radiators are no longer
required thus giving more room space and the health benefit is of course, no
dust being circulated around the room.
There are various types of Underfloor heating systems the simplest of these
systems is installed with a manual mixing valve – this is permanently set at
about 35°
or even more. This is fine if the weather outside is 0°
to 5°,
however the (average) temperatures in the Irish climate only drop below 12°
for 80 days of the year and therefore your heating systems would work
perfect with a temperature setting of 26°
to 30°.
The simplest way to achieve efficient heating from your underfloor heating
system without having to manually change the temperature setting every time
the weather changes is to install a Weather compensated mixing valve in
connection with the TD1 controller (see heating controls for more info).
This can be fitted to any type of heating supply, Oil, Gas, Woodpellet, even
Coal or Turf.
The type of pipe we use for underfloor heating is a multiplayer pipe, which
accounts for over 60% of the European market. We also use this pipe of the
installation of the plumbing in a house instead of copper. The 26mm pipe is
the equivalent of the ¾” copper and the 32mm pipe is the equivalent of the
1” copper. Therefore we remove the need for joints under the floor and is
connected to a manifold system located above ground.
